Kisses - Single - 2021

Picture
He don't care where I've been
Or where I'm headed to
He don't ask who I'm with
Or what I'm gonna do
He only wants my kisses
He only needs my kiss

He tells me I'm a queen
The best he's ever seen
And when he pulls me close
I know just what he means
He only wants my kisses
He only needs my kiss

Well I'm a busy lady
He's a busy guy
We're circling the city like a seagull in the sky
But when we find ourselves in the same time and place
He plants all of his kisses all over my face

He don't blow up my phone
25 times a day
He just sends me a sweet
Little note just to say
I only want your kisses
I only need your kiss

Well I'm a busy lady
He's a busy guy
We're circling the city like a seagull in the sky
But when we find ourselves in the same time and place
He plants all of his kisses all over my face

I don't care where he's been
Or where he's heading to
I don't ask who he's with
Or what he's gonna do
I only want his kisses
I only need his kiss

Annamania - 2021

1. Sweet Boy From Minnesota
Sweet boy from Minnesota
Child of the lakes and the pines
With chestnut hair
And a half-mast stare
How'd you get so gentle and so kind

Tell me the name of every flower
Growin' on this Rocky Mountainside

Hold my hand as we walk the land
Just west of the American Divide

You call me honey I'll call you darlin'
And we can lie here in your bed
And listen to
some sweet old country tunes
And a little Grateful Dead

We'll go out into the nighttime
We can dance it all away
We'll pretend that it's us until the end
Even though it's only for today

You help me carry my last suitcase
Down the stairs and to my car

I sure will miss
Your soft midwestern kiss
But I’ll send you lots of lovin when I’m far
Down the road with my guitar

2. Time To Move On - Tom Petty Cover

3. All My Runnin’
My heart told me go out tonight
Into the fading city light
I didn’t want to, felt so tired
But when it speaks to me so clear
Got no excuses ‘cept my fear
So onto that city bus I sighed

Standing in that cafe line
How is it you can read my mind
And now I know exactly why I’m here
You beat me by a couple years
Following that compass as it steers
Us northward to this gentle land

Oh let’s go home together
Far beyond these waves
Darlin’ all my runnin’
Led me to your face

I couldn’t help but start to smile
Been by myself for all this while
Waitin’ for so long but for whom

And now I see you sittin’ there
With your heart blazing bold and bare
And everything I need is in this room

Oh let’s go home together
Far beyond these waves
Darlin’ all my runnin’
Led me to your face

How first do you say hello
To someone you already know
Or maybe you say nothing at all
But this is the forever now
So I seize the time we have and bow
To love’s eternal merciful grace

Oh let’s go home together
Far beyond these waves
Darlin’ all my runnin’
Led me to your face

4. If You Build It
They say if you build it
They say that he will come
They say if you build it
They say that he will come
But my bricks are almost gone
And I ain't seen no one

My shoes fit my feet
And my key fits in the door
My shoes fit my feet
And my key fits in the door
And my belly's full
But still I keep wanting more

I met this little boy
He seemed to good to be true
I met this little boy
He seemed to good to be true
And now he's off playin' around
And I'm stuck here feeling blue

5. Oh My! (Oh Me Oh Me Oh My)
All the movie stars I seen shine so bright
All the boys I seen out at night

Try as I may with all my might
I can’t give up without a fight
I ain’t never seen a one like you

You got me runnin’ but I like the pace
Your ponytale and your pretty face
A block away you make my heart race
Am I just on some wild goose chase
Maybe so, but maybe you’re the one

Well I been around the world
Yeah I like to roam
But this one might just keep me here at home
He’s so kind, with his gentle way
I’m fantasizing on our wedding day

I don’t even know him all that much
But I see him around town and such
And when we talk, my breath I have to clutch
‘Cause sometimes for a second
Our hands touch
Oh my, oh me oh me oh my

Well I been around the world
Yeah I like to roam
But this one might just keep me here at home

He’s so kind, with his gentle way
I’m fantasizing on our wedding day

6. Jardim da Estrela
We took the tram to Jardim da Estrela
The stars they smiled down upon us both
And said come in you crazy wanderin' travelers
We laughed and cried and told each other jokes

Let's be real
Please tell me how you feel
Take our gloves and set them on the ground
Call your bluff
Tell you you're enough
It's just nice a-havin' you around

Not quite sure who you were when I met you
Gardener to help me start anew
First you had to pull up what was left of
Yesterday before new flowers grew

Here today
You tell me it’s ok
Dive into the happy and the sad
Baby star
I like you how you are
And you say that yes you like me, too

Solo

Woke up one sweet Sunday by the seashore
Lay in bed and looked up at the beams
Even though I must be leaving shortly
I can always find you in my dreams

Wait for me
With magic reverie
I just have to see you one more time

Sweetest friend
This isn't where we end
Let's take it to the last stop on the line
Take it to the last stop on the line

7. Already There
Walk with me down the sandy hills of time
Speak to me use nothing but your mind
'Cause I feel you in the depths
I saw you on the steps
Walking down the sandy hills of time

I hear you calling out my name
Can’t see you but I listen just the same

'Cause you’re singing me a song
I’m singing right along
I hear you calling out my name

Head first I dove into the center the earth
Release and rebirth
But like an anchor from a boat I hit the bottom
Then I signaled to you made it all the way through and you said
Baby, you were already there

Caught between the lines of this verse
Is this your idea of a curse?
'Cause I wrote my own script as the wet paint dripped
And I said Baby you were already there

Head first I dove into the center the earth
Release and rebirth
But like an anchor from a boat I hit the bottom
Then I signaled to you made it all the way through and you said
Baby, you were already there
I signaled to you made it all the way through and you said
Baby, you were already there

8. Beautiful Boy
Beautiful boy
With the beautiful heart
I don't even know where to start
I want to cover you
I want to cradle you
I wanna never let you go

Sweet sweet songbird
You're singin' to me
Well you open up what's closed
And you help me to be free
You got the voice of an angel
And the heart of a child
Let me see you smile

Tangled up in your hair
Well you take away my troubles and my every care
Well you're just like a drug
And I can't
I can't get enough

9. Sunny Days
Sunny days sittin’ on top of the world
Sunny days, you’re my baby I’m your girl
I’ve been sitting down practicing the truth of love
Wondering ‘bout what I’ve been dreaming of
Sunny days, sittin’ on top of the world

Starry nights, gazing to the top of the sky
Starry nights, I’m your lady you’re my guy
I got this big red flower pinned up in my hair
I’ve been looking for you everywhere
Sunny days, gazing to the top of the sky

So pull that magic peacock feather out your case
Stick it your cap and look me in the face
Do you know me near as much as I know you
Tell me pretty baby what we’re gonna do

Early morn singing on a new pretty chord
Early morn, I’m your queen and you’re my lord
Well I’ve seen you once and I’ve seen you twice
Third time’s a charmer wouldn’t that be nice
Sunny days sittin’ on top of the world
Sittin’ on top of the world
Sittin’ on top of the world

10. Hippie Boyfriend
I'm gonna get me a hippie boyfriend
And live with him in a hippie house
I'm gonna get me a hippie boyfriend
And kiss him on his hippie mouth

Diggin' dirt and plantin' flowers
Work real hard in the daytime light
Incense, records, and sweet caresses
Play real soft in the darkness of night

Chorus

Open the fridge and what'll you find
Organic spinach and fruits of all kind
Open the cupboard and what'll there be
Mismatched mugs from NYC

Chorus

Smoke some pot and play guitar
How I wonder where you are
So I send the message through my heart
This fairy tale's about to start

Chorus

I Woke up in the nighttime hours
Sky full of starlight and head full of you
You shine so bright
Creature of light
Reflecting back to me what's true

So will you be my hippie boyfriend
And live with me in a little house
Will you be my hippie boyfriend
And kiss me with your hippie mouth
Kiss me with your hippie mouth
Kiss me with your beautiful mouth

11. I'm Gone
(No no no, no no)
I can't do it, I can't do it
Was about to linger on you
But I blew right through it
Dodged a billion bullets babe
Thank my lucky stars all the ways I was saved
(No no no, no no)
'Cause you're basically basic
Like an old pair of shoes
Leaving hairs in my sink
Drinking way too much booze
I can't do it

Gave away everything
Every single thing that you ever gave (ever gave)
Shook off every spell
Every spell that you ever dare cast (ever cast)
Thought that I could evolve you
I thought I could solve you
Eventually just had to give you, a-give you away

So this is it
This is the last of it, baby I'm gone (baby, I'm gone)
Used to come crawling back
If you think I'll do that now baby you're wrong (baby, you're wrong)
Truly I bless you but babe I won't miss you remember
Just who you betrayed the last time that you kissed me
I'm gone

12. Please Let It Rain In California Tonight
Please let the darkness find the light
Please let my brother be all right
Please let forgiveness end this awful fight
And let it rain in California tonight

Please let me feel good in my skin
Remember how I felt when I was ten
Please let my shoulders stop being so tight
And let it rain in California tonight

Please let the orphans find good homes
And all the lonely people
Not feel alone
Please let the wounded bodies heal up right
And let it rain in California tonight

Please let the cigarettes all burn down
And let the smoke blow far away from this town
Please help the addicted people to be free
And vanquish from our hearts from hatred, jealousy and greed

Please let all the rivers all run clear
Remove all of our worry and our fear
Please let love rule our bodies, hearts, and minds
And melt away every single chain that binds

Please let the darkness find the light
Please let my brother be all right
Please let forgiveness end this awful fight
And let it rain in California tonight

Let it rain in California tonight

13. Tree
Old shady tree you sheltered me
From the day I arrived on the soft hills of Iowa countryside
You watched me grow, you heard me sing
And every year counted with a ring
I watched your leaves change from green to bright barn red and gold
Your majesty was something to behold
Something to behold

Dogwood, ash, sugar maple and me
Twins of gemini, each limb mirroring
With the earth we slept bare-branched through the winter winds
Awakening, sap rising, every spring
Every spring again

Tree, you’re part of me
You’re the hideout in my backyard
Autumn’s pile of leaves
Watch your seeds spinning, spiraling from the sky
Tree we are one, you and I
You and I

Left the land of my birth and I ventured way out west
A gold rush in my head, but love the treasure in my chest
Followed the stars with a guitar nestled close to me
A teacher made of rosewood, spruce, and mahogany

Tree, you’re part of me
Avocados, lemons, chestnuts, cherries, tangerines
A stool to sit upon and ponder it all
Under your branches so tall
Towering so tall

Now you’re family lies naked, eaten through
Fallen pieces of pines that once grew
Even in their death more gifts do they give
We’ll clear ‘em out, use their wood, replant their seed
And again watch them live again

The huge old tree that shaded me has been cut down
And all the kids from up the street now have kids of their own
Me I'm still seeking the Singer of Singers’ Song
Swaying like branches, breeze in my heart
Blowing me along

Tree, you’re part of me
You’re the house where I rest my head
Air that I breathe
Pencil and papers to let ideas roam
You give so selflessly with patience
Leading me Home

Wild Outside - 2020

I was strolling down city streets
Fumes filling the air
Sun blazing, boys catcalling
Hunger in their stares

And I dreamt about just letting go
Watching it all slide
And being with my mother
By the oceanside

In the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside
Oooh
In the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside

Why am I in this bustle
Noise at every turn
Why am I letting my
Soul and skin and spirit burn

I have tried and I have failed
But I don't need to keep a broken dream
Tied up and jailed

Get me to the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside
Oooh
Take me to the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside

Oooh
Oooh

Windswept I reawaken
Body knows its home
What was kept is liberated
Gray to polychrome

Let my roots run deep underground
Air is clean and home is found

In the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside
Oooh
In the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside

Take me to the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside
Oooh
Get me to the wild outside
Wild outside
Wild outside

By Your Side (written with/produced by Adrianne AG Gonzalez) - 2020

Picture
Be true and brave
No matter what they say
If you get scared, you can grab my hand

Stand tall and proud
Stand out from the crowd
You know I’ll always be your biggest fan
Ooh ooh

Keep swimming upstream
Don’t do the easy thing
I promise you will get there in the end

If you don’t know
Which way to go
I’ll be your guide
Your wisdom in the wind

Ooh
I will be with you
Help you see it through
Always by your side
I’m always be your side

Ooh ooh
Find your home
And make it all your own
Plant your roots and stretch your branches wide
I’ll be the earth
I’ll always put you first
I am yours and you’ll always be mine

Ooh I will be with you
Help you see it through
Always by your side
I’m always be your side

Ooh
I’ll be there
Ooh
By your side
Ooh I'll be there
Ooh

Ooh I will be with you
Help you see it through
Always by your side
I’m always be your side

Love Is Everything (written with/produced by Adrianne AG Gonzalez) - 2018

Picture
Love love love is everything, thing thing
It makes the world spin 'round
And stars light up the sea, sea, sea
Bigger than me
It strings our hearts together in this cosmic mystery
It's all that there is

Everything is love is love is
Everything is love is love is
Everything is love is la la la love

It's pulling me
To you like gravity
Stronger than any stones that stack up to the sky, sky, sky
You and I, I, I
Chanting words of hope into the darkest night
Lovers, sisters, brothers, misters, mother, unite

Everything is love is love is
Everything is love is love is
Everything is love is la la la love

Love is freedom for everyone
Love is freedom for everyone

Everything is love is love is
Everything is love is love is
Everything is love is la la la love

Love, love, love
Is everything, thing, thing
It makes the world spin 'round
And stars light up the sea

4. I Miss You So Much
I miss you so much
I miss you so much
It’s been 13 long days
Since I felt your touch

You left me so flat
You left me so flat
Baby I can’t believe
You would treat me like that

It cut me so deep
It cut me so deep
I can even feel the pain
When I’m fast asleep

I’m down on my knees
I’m down on my knees
Won’t you please let me go
Give me sweet release
Won’t you please let me go
Give me sweet release

5. XO - Beyonce cover

6. Longshoreman
When we met you were just a boy and I was setting sail
To seek myself 'cross the swaying sea left you shaping by the rail
Searched strange lands for fourteen years
Shore to shore I roamed
Then one day with pockets bare I turned back up at home

Longshoreman tie my ship up tight
To your lighthouse light
Let your songs fill the salty air
And shelter me tonight

Handsome man in your stevedore cap
Pulled down to your eyes
With long dark hair and a sunbeam smile
You’re a beacon in storming skies

But I don’t know how to love you
From near or afar
So I’ll just keep singing this song to you honey
‘Cause where there’s music, there you are

Once again we say farewell
Standing on the stones
And though I leave for distant coasts
You’ll never be alone

Longshoreman tie my ship up tight
To your lighthouse light
Let your songs fill the salty air
And shelter you tonight

8. Lose, Lose, Lose
I was clean for over two years
‘Til I saw you just now
You called me up and got me to let you
Let you come over somehow

You brought me a bottle
Of fancy French wine
That won't mess me up half as much as you
'Cause babe you're more like a bottle of whiskey
And a razor blade wrapped in two

And now you're messing up my Christmas Eve
What a day to choose
I should have known that I
I would never win
With you, it's lose, lose, lose

I am a baby phoenix
Shaking the ash off my back
But now with you sitting right next to me
I feel like my wings are under attack

If curiosity killed the cat
Then I just sang my last meow
I should have known that it would end just like this
But I did it anyhow

Now you're messing up my Christmas Eve
What a day to choose
I should have known that I
I would never win
With you, it's lose, lose, lose

Calm and collected I perched on the edge
And smiled as you tossed back your hair
‘Cause I was your hero but you were a phone booth
And now you've absconded with my strength
And I don't think that's fair

And now you're messing up my Christmas Eve
What a day to choose
I should have known that I
I would never win
With you, it's lose, lose, lose
With you, it's lose, lose, lose

2. Chocolate Chip Banana Cupcakes

I'm craving chocolate chip banana cupcakes
But all I really want is you

You’re full of magic and light and questions
So I straight up avoided you

It’s just I’ve been scared
I felt so ill-prepared
‘Cause I want to be perfect around you when I come through
I ran away from you last night when will I get it right
And now you seem to be kind of mad and it made me feel sad

Come on let's be friends
Can we begin again
‘Cause it's springtime lets wake up forgive and forget and renew
Maybe you'll go your way and I'll go mine
But before we do
Let’s share a chat can we just do that
To last for more than just a minute or two

I'm craving chocolate chip banana cupcakes
But all I really want is you
You're full of magic and light and questions
So I came straight to talk to you
You cast a glow on everything you know
So I wanted to tell you how I feel ‘cause it's been so hard to say

Thank you you’re really a gem
Can't wait till I see you again
Thank you for being here and being so real and so cute and sincere
I'm craving chocolate chip banana cupcakes but I really want is you.

3. The Bike Song

We’re going riding on our bike bikes
We’re going riding on our bike bikes
We’re going riding on our bike bikes today

Well I got my first bike when I was five
Was the best one I'd seen in my short little life
And I went ridin' on my brand new bike that day.

It had training wheels and a silver bell
That little red bike went fast as hell
Down the streets of Iowa City

Well my next bike had a banana seat
And I thought that was pretty neat
And so did all my friends
They called me Anna Banana

Rode my brother's old bike for a little while
That shiny bronze Schwinn made me smile
I always did wanna be just like him

Finally got a big blue bike when I turned 14
Was the most beautiful thing that I had ever seen
And I went ridin' on my birthday bike that day
All the way to Verona
For some frozen custard

Well when it was time to go to college
I threw my bike in the back and went to seek some knowledge
Along with my mini-fridge and extra long sheets

Did a triathlon when I was up there
And another one at 24
And after that I said Good Lord, please, no more

'Cause I hate running
But I love biking

I'm going riding on my bike bike
I'm going riding on my bike bike
I'm going riding on my bike bike today

Well then I shipped my bike out to Californ-i-a
I rode my bike to work nearly every day
Over that number 1-0-1 freeway
Looking down at the traffic

I'm going riding on my bike bike
I'm going riding on my bike bike
I'm going riding on my bike bike today

I took a spill out on my bike one night
Those J-Church tracks put up a pretty good fight
I was coming back from Golden Gate Park after a  Tom Petty concert
Believe it or not I got a scar in the shape of Mike Campbell's double-necked guitar

Then I left San Francisco to come back home
I left my Rockhopper out there all alone
In the care of a great friend
Who did not take great care of it

So I rescued that bike and took it in for a tune-up
I picked it the very next afternoon up
That bike was born again
Hallelujah!

I'm going riding on my bike bike
I'm going riding on my bike bike
I'm going riding on my bike bike today

Well now I’m back at home in old Madison Town
We got all these bike paths that go around
And we’re ridin’ and a-singin’ that sound

We're going east, we're going west
We're going downtown, too
We're going around the lakes
And past the zoo
In one of the finest cities I ever knew
It’s true!

We're all riding on our bike bikes
We're all riding on our bike bikes
We're all riding on our bike bikes today

We're all riding on our bike bikes
We're all riding on our bike bikes
We're all riding on our bike bikes today

4. Oh My! (Oh Me Oh Me Oh My)
All the movie stars I seen shine so bright
All the boys I seen out at night

Try as I may with all my might
I can’t give up without a fight
I ain’t never seen a one like you

You got me runnin’ but I like the pace
Your ponytale and your pretty face

A block away you make my heart race
Am I just on some wild goose chase
Maybe so, but maybe you’re the one

Well I been around the world
Yeah I like to roam

But this one might just keep me here at home
He’s so kind, with his gentle way
I’m fantasizing on our wedding day

I don’t even know him all that much
But I see him around town and such

And when we talk, my breath I have to clutch
‘Cause sometimes for a second
Our hands touch
Oh my, oh me oh me oh my

Well I been around the world
Yeah I like to roam
But this one might just keep me here at home

He’s so kind, with his gentle way
I’m fantasizing on our wedding day

5. This One's For You

You sat in black in the dark all alone
The light in the bar on the stage softly shone
The snow outside swirling and the folks inside whirling about
And when I saw you it turned me inside out
We talked through the night, rehashin' our lives
Trading “I'm sorrys” and “How hard I trieds”

Then on the blue Berber rug in my basement room
With Blood On The Tracks and Harvest Moon

I wondered if you could build me a bridge
To a time when I believed in everything that I did

When the future was open and my heart hadn’t broken just yet
Can you help me remember love I forget

As dawn’s first light snuck into the sky
We whispered last words and then “Goodbye”

Do be do be do be do
Sweet first love, this one's for you

6. Sugarcane
Sugarcane, sugarcane
‘Round my heart and runnin’ ‘round my brain
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

Woke up this mornin’, had a hunger pain
All I want for breakfast is my good sugarcane
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

Jump out of bed, run downstairs
Open up the cupboard just to see what's there
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

Get outta here darlin' I thought you understand
You don't bring no sugar then you're no damn good
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

Come here mama come here quick
This sugar's got me and I'm feeling sick
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

Sugar's addictive yeah they say you'll never win
But old sugar and I decided to be friends
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

Sugarcane, sugarcane
‘Round my heart and runnin’ ‘round my brain
Sugarcane, oh you old sugarcane

7. Satisfied Mind

8. Sweet Boy From Minnesota

Sweet boy from Minnesota
Child of the lakes and the pines
With chestnut hair
And a half-mast stare
How'd you get so gentle and so kind

Tell me the name of every flower
Growin' on this Rocky Mountainside

Hold my hand as we walk the land
Just west of the American Divide

You call me honey I'll call you darlin'
And we can lie here in your bed
And listen to
some sweet old country tunes
And a little Grateful Dead

We'll go out into the nighttime
We can dance it all away
We'll pretend that it's us until the end
Even though it's only for today

You help me carry my last suitcase
Down the stairs and to my car

I sure will miss
Your soft midwestern kiss
But I’ll send you lots of lovin when I’m far
Down the road with my guitar

9. You Ain't Worth My Time Anymore
Honeybabe you ain't worth my time anymore
Honeybabe you ain't worth my time anymore
You hung my heart out on the line
And watched me bleeding on the floor
You ain't worth my time anymore

Honeybabe now I sleep just like a queen
Bamboo sheets yeah you know what I mean
B
ig fluffy pillows 'round my head
I had enough of your old futon bed
Now I'm sleepin' in style

Lover friend you are still just a boy
Think I'll go to West Memphis 'cause you my joy
You stole my love and lead me on
You still don't know right from wrong
Babe you're just a boy

Last time I saw you you said, "I love you"
And walked out the door
You don't even know what love is for
Love is compassionate
Love is kind
All you did was make me lose my mind
You don't know what love is for

10. Green
This is a song of healing
This is a song of love
This is the song that is meant to remind me
Of everything that's right above

'Cause I'm singin' for forgiveness
I'm singin' for tears
I'm singin' to let go of every little last
Every little last one of my fears

This is a song of blessing
This is a song of green
This is a call to my brothers and my sisters
To all the kings and queens

I know that you remember
I remember, too

A time when goodness
Just grew and grew and grew and grew

This is a song of friendship
This is a song of grace

This is a song of communication
To tell you to your face

'Cause my tongue's been in my pocket
My heart's been at my feet
But music is where they always meet
Music is where we always meet

Pool All The Love * Pool All The Knowledge - 2009

Picture
1. This Moment With Me
Please don’t you take it wrong
If I call you up on the phone
And please don’t you take it wrong
If I come by all alone

'Cause yesterday’s already gone
Tomorrow is no guarantee
So just take this for what it is, my friend
And spend this moment with me

Outside the rains are comin’ down
Another year earth spinnin’ 'round
Inside it’s chilly to the bone
On the couch all alone

The walls in this town are closing in
Time to move on again
I just hope that you’ll take the chance, my friend
To spend this moment with me

I could say “I love you” and it’d be true
If you only knew how much I do
But I’ll just keep quiet and smile
And hold you close for a little while

Tonight we’ll sing "Hare Krishna"
Tomorrow, "Praise the Lord"
Can't you see it's all the same as the love
In this moment with me
In this moment with me

2. I Found Love
I found love on the 101
With rain fallin' down outside
Sitting next to you I was just happy
To be alive

I found love in a quiet hall
We were tangled up in blue
I could feel your heart speak
I wonder, could you?

And I found love as the songbird sang
And angels danced around
And I heard a sweet voice saying,
"I was lost and now I'm found"

I found love in my baby's smile
He's got the purest heart you ever did see
That's why it's so hard, my baby,
To set you free.
Oh but I'm trying, I'm trying, my baby
To set you free

3. Hippie Boyfriend
I'm gonna get me a hippie boyfriend
And live with him in a hippie house
I'm gonna get me a hippie boyfriend
And kiss him on his hippie mouth

Diggin' dirt and plantin' flowers
Work real hard in the daytime light
Incense, records, and sweet caresses
Play real soft in the darkness of night

Chorus

Open the fridge and what'll you find
Organic spinach and fruits of all kind
Open the cupboard and what'll there be
Mismatched mugs from NYC

Chorus

Smoke some pot and play guitar
How I wonder where you are
So I send the message through my heart
This fairy tale's about to start

Chorus

I Woke up in the nighttime hours
Sky full of starlight and head full of you
You shine so bright
Creature of light
Reflecting back to me what's true

So will you be my hippie boyfriend
And live with me in a little house
Will you be my hippie boyfriend
And kiss me with your hippie mouth
Kiss me with your hippie mouth
Kiss me with your beautiful mouth

4. California King
Someday I'll have a California king
Summer's kisses and a tattoo ring
"There ain't much to this love thing"
I'll say to my California king

Someday I'll have a room with a view
Baby grand and my guitar, too
Up so high the sky so blue
Out the window of my room with a view

High
So high
High
As a cloud in the sky
Blowin' by

Someday I'll be where Jerry played
Way back in those good old days
Lookin' out from that great big stage
I'll be where Jerry played

Then I'll have peace of mind
The kind that's so hard to find
Ecstasy runnin' up my spine
Oh I'll have peace of mind

Chorus

Someday I'll know joyful love
Sent down from the stars above
Right to me on the wings of a dove
Oh I'll know joyful love
Oh I know joyful love

5. Kihei Blues
I drove down through Kihei
Hopin' to catch a glimpse of you
I drove down through Kihei
Hopin' to catch a glimpse of you
But you were nowhere to be seen
So I just cruised on through

Then I drove upcountry
Thought you might be there
Yeah I drove upcountry
Thought you might be there
I think I mighta seen your ride
But I didn't see you anywhere

So back down to Pai'a
You never know who you might see
Yeah back down to Pai'a
You never know who you might see
But there was just a bunch of bliss-drunk hippies
Where oh where can you be?

Now I'm back on the west side
Think I'll go to the beach
Yeah I'm back on the west side
I think I'll go to the beach
'Cause it's your turn to come lookin' baby
But you know I ain't that hard to reach

6. Ulysses (Om Namah Shivaya)
Lyin’ by the lake in a little wood hut listenin’ to Mason
Tryin’ to understand what he means when he says
That Ulysses can explain everything
I don’t have it here
Nor have I ever read it
Guess that’d be a good place to start

Dreamin’ on the dock yesterday
Sun was purifyin’
Pulled out all of the rottin’ roots
Inside me that were dyin’
Now I’m filled with space
Though not sure what to do
So I sing another song for you

Om om namah shivaya om

Starin’ at the sky in a Northern Night
Tryin’ to piece together
All the puzzle parts that I gathered up
From the songs of my sisters and my brothers
I think if we could just pool all the knowledge
We’d all find what we are looking for

Om om namah shivaya om

7. I Left My Heart In San Francisco
I left my heart in San Francisco
I left my heart in San Francisco
I left my heart in San Francisco
But I am going to get it back

I lost my way in San Francisco
I lost my way in San Francisco
I lost my way in San Francisco
Yeah I feel right off the track

Then I walked away from San Francisco
Then I walked away from San Francisco
Then I walked away from San Francisco
Right into that ocean blue

But I'm going back to San Francisco
But I'm going back to San Francisco
But I'm going back to San Francisco
'Cause that is where that I belong

Well I'm gonna face on up to you little boy
I'm gonna face on up to you little boy
I'm gonna face on up to you little boy
And take back what is mine

Then I'm gonna break your spell in San Francisco
I'm gonna break your spell in San Francisco
I'm gonna break your spell in San Francisco
And cast one of my own

Then I'm gonna walk the streets of San Francisco
'Till I find my heart in San Francisco
I'm gonna be on track in San Francisco
When I face on up to you

8. More Than Friends
Baby why you do me like that
You think you're pretty smart
The only thing I think you know how to do is
Break my heart

Baby why you treat me so mean
Why can't you play nice
'Cause first you're burnin' like Sammy McGee
Then you're cold as ice

You know you're making me lose my mind
Not just once but time after time
Why can't you just decide once and for all
How many times do I have to fall?
C'mon

Baby why you playing these games?
You know you're for me
I think it's time that you just opened your heart
And set your spirit free
You gotta set your spirit free

You know you're driving me straight up the wall
How hard is it to pick up my call?
You know I just wanna see you again
We both know that we're more than friends
C'mon

9. Sweet Mornin' Love
You're an angel in disguise
With curls like cupid
And starlight in your eyes
You're a willow in the wind
You sway away from me
But you always sway back again

Baby I missed you so much
I'm in ecstasy
When I feel your gentle touch
Did you come from above
Oh sweet mornin' love

Baby you're a wild rose
You grow so free how you found me
Only heaven knows
Although you're a mystery
What you have revealed has somehow set me free

Can I do the same for you
Open your heart, take away the pain and make you new
When times get tough
I need your sweet, mornin' love

You're a candle in the night
At my darkest hour
You are my guiding light
And even when you cause me pain
The tears that fall they are like
A sweet summer rain

'Cause they wash away my doubt
And help me figure
What this life is all about
I can't get enough
Of your sweet mornin' love

10. Blue Angel
I first met you at the laundromat
You were with your girl
To you I was just washing clothes
To me it was the world
'Cause you looked up at me with great blue eyes
As I said hello
And then you walked back out the door
Dreamin' down the road

Blue angel
Blue angel
Tell me who you are
'Cause you know my heart and you read my mind
And you shine just like a star
You saved me once and you saved me twice
So I just have to say
Thank you for your kindness
And thank you for your grace

The next time that I saw you
I was naked by the sea
Letting all the poor lost souls
Attached to me go free
You told me that you cut your foot
But it would heal in time
And then we laughed at all the craziness
Of walkin' down the line

Blue angel
Blue angel
Tell me who you are
'Cause you know my heart and you read my mind
And you shine just like a star
You saved me once and you saved me twice
So I just have to say
Thank you for your kindness
And thank you for your grace

You stopped me on the corner
of Castro and 18th
Just to let me know that you're still
Watching over me
I don't know what the heck you are
But I know that you're real
It's not something I can explain it's just
Something I can feel

Blue angel
Blue angel
Tell me who you are
'Cause you know my heart and you read my mind
And you shine just like a star
You saved me once and you saved me twice
So I just have to say
Thank you for your kindness
And thank you for your grace

11. I Just Had To Say
I had to tell you that I love you
So I wrote you down this song
Couldn't say it out loud
Out loud it just comes out all wrong

Had to tell you that I need you
Even though I think you know
'Cause you're the one who makes it all right
All right you make me lonesome when you go

Had to tell you that I love your sweet smile
I just wish I'd see you more
'Cause darlin' you're everything that I have ever hoped for
And I just had to say

I had to tell you that I'll miss you
When I'm there on the road
But my friend the moon'll keep me safe
And your friend the sun'll keep me warm

I've never known a love like this
I can feel it in my soul
'Cause all my life I've been so broken broken broken
Oh you make me whole
And I just had to say

Had to tell you that you're perfect
Perfect enough for me
'Cause you're the on that opened my heart
Oh I was blind but now I see

Outta My Head - 2006

Picture
1. Beautiful Boy
Beautiful boy
With the beautiful heart
I don't even know where to start
I want to cover you
I want to cradle you
I wanna never let you go

Sweet sweet songbird
You're singin' to me
Well you open up what's closed
And you help me to be free
You got the voice of an angel
And the heart of a child
Let me see you smile

Tangled up in your hair
Well you take away my troubles and my every care
Well you're just like a drug
And I can't
I can't get enough

2. Something I Can Feel
Mixin' colors in that CD case
Sittin' on my bed
Looking at the lines on his face
Mixing in some red
You inspire me so much
It makes me cry
And I didn't even get to say goodbye

Reaching out to touch me
Through the lines of this song
Like you can sense it
Exactly what's wrong
And loneliness pervades this place
Loneliness like outer space

Strangers and lovers
Sing into my soul
I think that maybe
This could make me whole
And I don't know you
But I will
It is simply something
I can feel

3. Goodbye Blue Monday
Goodbye blue Monday
Hello sunny days
The first of April is upon us
Shining in so many ways
Looking back on the story
The story of my soul
Looking back to the places and the people who made me whole
You made me whole you made me whole

I wanna feel your arms around me
I wanna feel your love like rain
I wanna help you understand me
And I want to apologize for the pain

You were such a sweet, sweet friend
Thought about you time and again
But what would make you come to me now
I don't know why and I don't know how
I don't know how I don't know how

I wanna feel your arms around me
I wanna feel your love like rain
I wanna help you understand me
And I want to apologize for the pain

A simple line, a simple note
I just hope you read what I wrote
Or maybe you'll hear this song
And you'll know that I know that I was wrong
I know that I was wrong

I wanna feel your arms around me
I wanna feel your love like rain
I wanna help you understand me
And I want to apologize for the pain

4. If You Build It
They say if you build it
They say that he will come
They say if you build it
They say that he will come
But my bricks are almost gone
And I ain't seen no one

My shoes fit my feet
And my key fits in the door
My shoes fit my feet
And my key fits in the door
And my belly's full
But still I keep wanting more

I met this little boy
He seemed to good to be true
I met this little boy
He seemed to good to be true
And now he's off playin' around
And I'm stuck here feeling blue

5. The Most Beautiful Thing I've Ever Seen
I think you may be
The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
Not that I know
What that’s supposed to mean

But somehow you inspire
Something seen a thousand times prior
An inspiration that leaves me standing
At your door

You can see the stars
From your house you said
And I can see the stars
When I think about your eyes
And I lie here
I lie here in my bed

Your face is like the sky
And your mouth a crescent moon
Be my constellation
Be my cocoon

Won’t you, won’t you be my poet
Won’t you, won’t you be my muse
Be my country music
Be my delta blues

Just be with me
Walk with me
Help me find my path
Be my strong wheel
Rolling into my future
And out, out of my past

I miss you my friend
And I miss the sweet sweet tune
Wanna feel the heat
Hear the crickets sing in June

And I want to be free
Wanna know what it is to be me
Wanna give and I wanna receive

I want to make you smile
Make you mine if only for awhile
And I want to know love
But tonight in your arms just might be
It might be enough

6. Catch Me If You Can
Catch me if you can
Catch me if you can
Do you wanna be my man
Why don't you tell me if you think that you can

Give me back something
Give me back something
That was lost
That was lost
Lost in the river or was it
Was it tossed?

My ears are burning
My ears are burning
Look around
At what you've found
Don't stop rolling or you
You will drown

7. Honeybee
I walked into you one lovely Friday
The time's not that important
Walked over to help us out
Shuffling to some Herbie
That white coffee you made
Was filled with love

Round two was even sweeter
Walked into your cafe and you were eager
Giggled as you walked away
Didn't really know what to see
So I told you I'd see you later

Only took a second or two
For me to know that you
Would be my sweet
My sweet honeybee

The rest of our brilliant charade
Was scripted just like a play
I was the catalyst
Still am a fatalist
And you were so kind
To play the role I defined
To be the first one

Only took a second or two
For me to know that you
Would be my sweet
My sweet honeybee

Now it's been a day
But it feels like 20
Since I wrapped my arms around your waist
And you rode me home
I don't know what to do
So all I do is just sit and think of you
And how you were the first one

Only took a second or two
For me to know that you
Would be my sweet
My sweet honeybee

8. Outta My Head
Gots to get you outta my mind
Outta my head
So I can finally fall asleep
When I go to bed
Pumping through my veins
Intoxicating like that whiskey
We drank together
Oh baby, do you miss me?

I could listen to this song forever
'Cause it reminds me of you
And the short time we spent together

Do you hear his voice crack
Singing about his baby
How he wants to get
Wants to get her back
Like he said, babe it's true
It was understood
That I'd be leaving
Since the very first day I met you

Now I'm sitting here on this flight
Looking down at the clouds
Thinking about you tonight

And now that girl across the aisle
Is thinking about her special bird, too
Except the thing is babe
As much as I'd like to say
No worries, mate, it's all a farce with you
'Cause baby, you ain't even
Written me one little word
What the hell am I supposed to believe in?

Now that girl across the aisle
Even though she was sobbing
Had a reason to smile
'Cause her butterfly
Had written her a little note
Something I'd do baby but evidently you don't
So yeah babe, it's true
I'm gonna miss you
I have, I do

9. It Makes Me Happy
It makes me happy
It makes me homesick
When I think about oh, the rolling hills
And the lightening bugs and the sweet summer air
You put flowers in your hair

Well the sound of his voice
Like water running down a stream
It sings straight into my heart
Like a message in a dream
There is music floating softly from the corner of the room
And the smell like sweet perfume

Well I can't stand waiting
I want it now
And I really don't care just why or how
'Cause I want to live a life less plain you see
Everybody just wants to be free

10. Angelina
Angelina in my arms
Won't you teach me all your charms
Angelina so glad you're mine
Angelina, Angelina you're so fine

Tel me your secrets
Tell them to me
Tell me everything that we're gonna be
Angelina I'm so glad you're mine
Sing to me Angelina, you're so fine

You came up from the south
On Highway #1
You left it all behind you
Now let's have some fun
Angelina, so glad you're mine
Angelina, Angelina you're so fine

Angelina with all your scars
Did you come to me from the stars?
Angelina I'm so glad you're mine
Angelina, Angelina you're so fine

11. Nowhere You Need To Go
Feel like I've been treading water all these years
Holding on to memories and childhood fears
But I haven't shed a tear
Since that night for you dear

Takin' tiny steps now it's true
Trying to keep on keepin' on like a bird that flew
With little wings stretched out wide
I got nothing left to hide

Chance appears if you let it
And love is near if you can get him
Just take it slow
You've got nowhere you need to go

Heavy like a motor full of weeds
Petals falling, a flower bleeds
And repeats itself each time
Got to find a way to unwind

Chance appears if you let it
And love is near if you can get him
Just take it slow
You've got nowhere you need to go

Can you hear me now
As i speak without words
'Cause i will sing you a song
I would sing to you forever

Feeling so good feeling so right
Everything is sweet in the city tonight
And I'm sure our paths will cross
Try not to consider you lost

Chance appears if you let it
And love is near if you can get him
Just take it slow
You've got nowhere you need to go

12. Wash Themselves Away
I'm trying to run from my dreams
But they keep hammering back at me
I'm torn like a ticket stub
But still, oh still I can see

These voices keep on screaming
And whispering in my ear
I cover my head with pillows
But still, oh still, I can hear

You got the voice
So why don't you use it?
You got the hands
So why don't you play
You got the chance
You better take it
Or all them dreams
They're gonna wash themselves away
All them dreams
They're gonna wash themselves away
